Ko Phi Phi Pics

Yesterday was our first of two day trips while here in Phuket that seemingly came out of a "tour factory".
We went to Ko Phi Phi which, on it's own, is simply magical. The problem is, you're enjoying it with about 600 other people.
You start with a long minibus ride to the speed boat terminal, with each boat carrying up to 50 people (we had 45 other passengers, including four of the fobbiest J-Pop girls I've ever seen). The one-hour ride to the island is bumpy ("the sea was angry that day my friends"...), but actually a lot of fun. The trip included swimming, awesome snorkeling, a decent lunch, and a great boat tour of the islands. Oh and feeding some monkeys too. All in all, not a half bad day.

  1. Lovely pics. Your tour sounds like ones we have taken from a cruise. What is a J-Pop girl? Today we had snow forecast for us! It did not materialise and I think the threat has passed. What a hoot that would have been. In 1988 they had snow here on the beach and we thought we might be part of history. We figured if it was this cold (40 degrees F) we might as well have the snow and be done with it. It was a good day to be inside. We all played bridge this afternoon and then each snuggled up in bed to get warm. Even Lynda was cool for a while. Tonight we are going to watch the Olympics. This has been marred by the tragic death of a Georgian luger. He was 21 years old. Apparently the luge run is extremely challenging and some of the smaller countries have athletes who are perhaps not well enough trained for such circumstances. Last night we were out to dinner along the beach. We were 50 for dinner and the restaurant did not do a great job. It took an hour to get our bill. The night before we played hand and foot Canasta with a couple from Illinois and that was fun. Tomorrow I teach yoga again and I have also been asked to teach it on the 23rd at the Senior Centre. That is a lot more intimidating as there were 50 people in one of the rooms last Thursday and 30+ in the other. Scary!
    Enjoy the warm in Phuket!
    Lots and lots of love

  2. Well look at you yoga teacher!! You are racking up quite a group! I do hope it goes well for you!
Sorry to hear that the weather has been so poor! But at least it did not snow! Who cares about being part of THAT type of history - no way!
All is well here, we leave tomorrow and today enjoyed a good hike and then some pool time. We are off to pick our laundry tonight, get a massage and then go for dinner. Should be good!
Take care of yourselves and I shall send you sunny weather vibes!
    Love V
